Mother Teresa (1910–1997) was a Catholic nun and humanitarian renowned for her lifelong dedication to helping marginalized communities and those facing poverty, illness, and social exclusion. Born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in Albania, she founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, an organization focused on providing care, compassion, and support to those in need, regardless of their beliefs or background.

Her efforts led to the establishment of hospices, orphanages, and healthcare centres that brought relief and dignity to individuals in extreme hardship. In recognition of her work, she received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in 2016.

Although some aspects of her work and views have been debated, her legacy as an advocate for compassion, empathy, and social justice continues to inspire people worldwide. The Missionaries of Charity, which she founded, now operates in over 130 countries, continuing her mission of providing care and comfort to those in need.
